The short answer: November to February is the most popular time for an Alleppey houseboat, with cool, dry weather and calm backwaters. But every season has its own appeal — and its own pricing. Here’s how the year breaks down.
Peak season: December to February
This is the classic window. Days are warm and dry, evenings are pleasantly cool, and the backwaters are at their most photogenic. It’s also the busiest and priciest stretch — especially the super-peak around 20 December to early January, when demand and rates are at their highest and cancellation terms are strict. Book well ahead.
Shoulder season: October, November & March
The edges of peak season are a sweet spot: good weather, slightly softer pricing and fewer crowds than the December rush. November in particular is excellent — post-monsoon greenery with dry skies.
Summer: April & May
Hotter and more humid, but the backwaters stay beautiful and prices ease off. An AC houseboat makes a big difference in these months — look at Deluxe, Premium or Luxury tiers for full comfort.
Monsoon: June to September
